FEDERATION OF ASIAN STORYTELLERS // ISSUE 007 // OCTOBER 2020
It was emotional and enriching to listen to what everyone saw, felt, and experienced. From feeling nourished in nature, going back to places of childhood, meeting a grandparent /parent/ friend or even meeting ones own self, feeling moved and nostalgic to dreaming about everyone coming together in a place of nature ….
We got a heartwarming glimpse of how each of us saw ‘a storyteller’, a glimpse into the answers within ourselves.
As we sat to introspect deeper, we shared what a storyteller dreams to do, what are her/his beliefs/values and what are some of her/his resources/skills/tools. We used the below loose template to guide and to let our expressions flow. And flow they did.
It was great to arrive at many common values that we all connected to and our minds also opened to some unique and important perspectives. A feeling of understanding of this sacred responsibility on this journey of storytelling that we have all embarked upon. And the joy and comfort of having each other to reach out to, which comes with the beautiful responsibility of ‘truly listening’ and ‘having trust’. And today, more than ever, as many of us spoke of the physical, social, emotional challenges the world (all of us too) grapples with, we understand our responsibility for healing the world and bringing joy and a feeling of community.
This exploration began with an inward journey and went on to converge on a path of togetherness. Gratitude.
