Time Zone check For Personal Story Circle
I learnt a lot from Sue Hollingsworth session yesterday and I hope you found it useful too. I believe that it would be helpful for us to have an opportunity to practice sharing a personal story among friends and fellow storytellers and, in the process, experience the difference in atmosphere between a traditional-story swap and a session featuring personal stories. At the very least – as with Sue’s own story – we’ll get to know each other a little better!
Sheila, Krupa, Rituparna and I had a short chat with Sue after the session and have agreed the following format:
Break out 1 (Spontaneous):
We will divide into groups of 4 or 5 tellers, and provide a trigger topic to tell about just before we go into the breakout rooms. This is to encourage everyone to share a story without planning or preparation. This session is expected to last about 30 minutes. Let’s keep the stories to 5 minutes or less.
Breakout room 2 (Themed) :
After a group reflection we will go into a second breakout session. For this the topic is 'a story of your childhood'. If you have a story you’d like to share, please let us know, so that we can more evenly divide the tellers among the break-out rooms – we anticipate there may be some who prefer to listen rather than to share at this point in the meet. This session is expected to run 40 minutes – let’s say 8 minutes max per story.
This will be followed by a group reflection.
