It has been heartening to see a lot of virtual storytelling action over the last two months, particularly from storytellers in India. As the largest contingent in the FEAST community, that should come as no surprise!
A few weeks ago, Deeptha Vivekanand and Rituparna Ghosh reached out to the Directors of FEAST - Sheila Wee, Jeeva Raghunath and Roger Jenkins, and Consulting Director Krupa Vinayagamoorthy - with the suggestion to start an exclusive FEAST India Chapter to address the needs and challenges of the growing storyteller community in the country. Deeptha and Rituparna feel strongly - and we wholeheartedly agree - that storytellers in India would benefit immensely from organising themselves into a unified community in order to effectively deal with the demands of industries and spaces that require the services of storytellers.
Such a Chapter would create a safe space to share best practices, discuss challenges, collaborate on projects, form special interest groups, and stay connected. We are already pleased to see many new collaborations happening in recent times, perhaps the only silver lining of the COVID-19. With the tribe of storytellers in India expanding, the Directors of FEAST believe this is the right time to launch such an initiative and that it could well become a barometer for similar efforts across the world.
We hope you will join us for this meeting and become a founding member of this Chapter. Feast members are welcome to personally invite any Indian tellers to observe.
Please register if you would like to be a part of this conversation.
We look forward to having you on board.
